Goodyear House Tour

I'm excited to share a full before & after home tour of our Goodyear, Arizona home. We've had so much fun over the past several months making this home ours, it's completely different than our other home in so many ways which has made it challenging and fun to decorate. The first thing we did when we moved in was paint the entire house! We painted all the rooms (except bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry) Grayish by Sherwin Williams.

Join me as we go on a tour! A thing to note is the “after” pictures are from when we listed this home. We’d already been in the process of downsizing during this time. I’d already sold my beloved chesterfield sofa.

After 3 years in this home, we put it on the market and sold it in less that 24 hours. We are currently building a home in Buckeye, Arizona. I wanted to remember this house, we have so many great memories in this home and truly made it ours. This was a project house for us for sure, we made so many changes to this home that made it ours.

living room

We knew when we first saw this home that we'd turn this downstairs living area into a more "formal" living room. It's been a great space while entertaining for the adults to gather while the kids play upstairs. Which has worked out exactly as we imaged it would.  I've been able to bring to life some of the ideas I've had in my mind for a while. When we first moved in this room sat empty for several weeks while I shopped for and picked out the perfect furniture for this room, here's a before:

kitchen & dining

We made a lot of cosmetic changes in this space. We painted the cabinets and added new hardware. I also painted the pantry door a dark gray and we added a new light fixture above the dining table.

family room

Our family room has become our gathering space. We watch t.v. here, the kids play in their little corner nook I created for them. It’s become a great versatile space for us.

ava's room

Ava’s sweet little room is full of all the things she loves. It has a cute little window bench and build in cubbies. One of the things I loved so much about this space was all the built ins, and amazing closets. Ava’s room has all those things, and she asked for it to be pink!

zane's room

When we moved into this house this was a nursery, and over time we’ve transitioned his room into a big boy room full of all the things that remind us of Zane.

primary bed & bath

The primary bedroom is located on the main floor of the home. We loved this change having our room separate from the kids’ rooms. I painted the bathroom vanity a dark grey chalk paint, and put new hardware on the cabinets.

Our Kitchen Reno | Before & Some Plans

We've lived in our home for 7 months now, since the moment we looked at this house we knew the kitchen needed some updates & upgrades. We've been saving our money ever since and making plans to tackle big projects in our kitchen this year.

On our list:

  • add backsplash ($300 budgeted)
  • paint cabinets white
  • add hardware & drawer pulls ($200 budgeted)
  • replace light fixture (done! $40)

We haven't done much to this kitchen since we moved in except switch out the light fixture for a new one. Here's our kitchen the day we moved in.

We already started working on our backsplash, it's already adding so much to our kitchen. It really has helped to transform this space. I can't wait to show you.

We have a budget of $1000 for this update of our kitchen.

Stay tuned in the next few weeks as we update our kitchen and take you along for the progress. I'm excited for a new kitchen this year. What home projects are you working on this year?

2015 | Christmas Home Tour

We decorated for Christmas early around here, the second week in November to be exact! We've been enjoying the twinkling lights of the tree for weeks now. I thought it was time to take a look at our home this Christmas. This year it's sorta fun t decorate a new space since it's our first Christmas in this home. Everything has a new and different place. It's been fun to put decor in new spaces, and I'm loving the addition of having both a formal living room and family room to decorate.

This year I pulled out a lot of my red traditional decor, and I'm super loving buffalo check and plaid this season.

So let's jump in at the front door.

I love having this open banister this year to decorate. Big bows with glitter just make me so happy.

Our Christmas card books from the last few years, every year I save them and bind them into a book and set out the next year for people to look at. I love seeing our friends & family from year to year.

You can see more of my Christmas table scape here.

I added the ribbons to my pantry door to hang Christmas cards on as we get them. I love seeing them as I walk into my kitchen.

Thanks for taking a peek around my home this year! Christmas is in just a few days, hoping you and your family's have a beautiful and Merry Christmas!

Christmas Tablescape

Today I'm sharing with you my Christmas table scape, I really enjoy putting together simple and elegant tables for special occasions. For this table scape I shopped my house and used mostly things I already had.

I did get these new tartan plates from Shutterfly this year for my table, which I super love and am loving all things tartan this year! I wanted my table to be simple, with a little sparkle. So adding lots of tea lights gives off that look really affordably. Let's take a look at my table this year.

I made the pine cone center pieces using a tutorial here. And I added these tartan snowflakes to the bottoms to tie in with the plates. Then just added as I mentioned lots of tea light in various votive holders.

I'd been wanting gold flatware for a while, so when I saw 4 sets on clearance at Target for $5 I scooped them all up for my holiday table. The wooden chargers are from World Market I got them last year, the white dot plates are from there as well. And the tartan plates are from Shutterfly.

Table runner (Target last year)

Gold dot glasses (tutorial here)

Water Goblets (Target-old)

Votives (Target & World Market)

I'm loving the glow of this table and the pops of gold & red. I hope this inspires you that table decor doesn't have to be over the top or expensive, sometimes simple is better. How are you decorating your table this year?

House Tour: Six Months In

Six months in! Can you believe it? It's hard to believe that it's already been six months since we moved into our new home. There's still so many projects to finish but slowly we're making progress.

Before we decorated for the holidays I wanted to share with you a quick tour of our space after living here for 6 months.

Have questions about anything? Leave them in the comments below and I'll answer them there.
