READ | 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn't Quit

Last month I had a goal to read two books. I finished an entire book while traveling home from vacation last week. It's amazing how much you can read in a car for 5 hours! And also read one with a group of women; this review today is about that book.

5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn't Quit by Nicki Koziarz

A friend approached be about reading this book together with a bunch of small biz owners. I jumped at the chance to read something together and discuss it along the way. I've always wanted to do a book club so this was really fun.

I'd never heard of this book before until I got my newsletter from B&H Publishing talking about new books that were out. And since I had just started a new small business myself after closing down my stationary shop this seemed like the perfect timing to read about "not being a quitter."

This book is a study on the book of Ruth in the Bible, and what lessons we can learn from Ruth about not quitting. Truthfully I was all in, Ruth what can you teach me? My favorite chapter what about what the author calls "emotional generosity." The idea being that we give people emotionally what we ourselves need.

Do we need more grace? Then give grace to others.

Do we need more love and people to be patient with us? Then give that to others. Realizing most of the time the same things we need from people we should also freely give to people.

I also loved the chapter where she talked about "fleeing to the familiar." How true is it that most of the time when we quit or give up it's because we want to flee to what's familiar? I know I have. But I've also learned that fleeing doesn't help, and what was once familiar is no longer once you've been out of that season for so long. Our minds and the devil want to play tricks on us and make us think if we could only get back to (fill in the blank) life would be better. Not true. There's a reason you are not in that season anymore.

This book was really challenging for me. If you are a person who's ever given up or wanted to give up on something I highly suggest reading this book! It'll challenge you to take a look at how God sees you and how he's designed your life.

You are not a quitter.

Now, go read this book!

READ | Wild and Free by Jess Connolly & Hayley Morgan

This book released last week, have you grabbed your copy yet?

I wanted to share with you a few thoughts on this book, I was lucky enough to get an advanced reader copy and read it before it hit shelves. First let's chat about the tag line of this book;

"A hope-fllled anthem for the woman who feels she is both too much and never enough."

If that doesn't grab your attention, I don't know what will. Because between me and you I have felt at times in my life that I was both too much and never enough. So I can relate and believe that you can too.

It's been a long time since I picked up a book an scribbled through a book, underlining an devouring every word on the page.

I did that with this book. Here's why;

Wild and Free is not a book that goes through a bullet point list about how to be wild and free. Instead it's a book that talks about exactly who God is, and that his promises are good and for you and for me. Through this we are wild. We are free. When we begin to realize and stand on exactly who God is, and when we see that truth in our lives this makes us free.

I appreciate how both Hayley & Jess walk through their stories and pull out bits and parts and share with us through them God's grace, love and peace.

If you're looking for a book to read on your next vacation or during nap time, I highly encourage you to pick up this one. I know you'll be blessed by reading it.

And may you always feel enough and never to much.

Because you are already enough for God.

And never to much in his eyes.

READ | Breaking Busy by Alli Worthington

I first was introduced to Ali Worthington through the blog world, she's the creator and founder of Blissdom (a blogging conference.) I was able to hear her speak at Propel Women last May and fell in love with her even more.

I adore her soft spoken voice, but don't let that fool you this mama of five has some spunk. She recently released a book at the end of January and I had the opportunity to read an advance copy before it came out.

'Breaking Busy' is a book about letting go of the ideas that we put on ourselves of what we think we should do and really taking a look at what God wants us to do. This thought has gripped me these last few weeks since finishing this book.

Another portion of the book I really loved was when she talked about "editing our lives" the idea being that we should every now and then be taking a look at the areas and things that we fill out lives with and make sure we are doing the things God has really called us to for that season.

As we as women learn to let go of our own expectations and things we put on ourselves we see the freedom that God can give us in these areas of our lives.

I loved this book it was the perfect read to start this new year, if you're looking for a book to read this year to kick you in the pants and challenge you I encourage you to give this one a read. You can pick it up here.

I was on the book launch team for Breaking Busy, where I was given a complimentary copy for the purpose of a review. All opinions are my own.

Books in 2016

I've got a big goal this year to read 3 books per month. I've always loved reading but in the last several years haven't made it a big priority. This year I'm setting new goals for myself. I have a lot of books that have been sent to me by publishers and given to me as gifts so I already have a great list going. Here's the books I've got on my list as we enter 2016;

What books are you reading in 2016? I'd love to hear your thoughts and add them to my reading list.

Early Reading Skills with the story of NOAH.

We have a reader in our home! I can hardly believe it but our little girl is reading. It's been so fun these last few weeks to watch her grow in this skill. I've enjoyed many days us curling up on the couch to read books.

It's hard to believe that just a few months ago I was reading to her, as they say readers are born on the laps of their parents. This is so true.

We've been choosing some early reader books with small words and easy sentences for her to learn on. This book from B&H Publishing is great for early readers, it's from their 'Little Words Matter' collection: Noah's Ark.

With just a few short words we can get the full story of Noah, and it's a great companion tool for parents to help teach their children about the story of Noah.

I love that my girl was able to practice her reading skills with this story and also learn Biblical truths at the same time.

Do you have a reader in your home? Wanna WIN a copy of Noah's Ark for your family? Simply comment below your favorite children's books and I'll pick a winner Wednesday.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of this book as apart of the B&H Bloggers program. All opinions are my own.
