3 Benefits from Journaling

I've been journaling for as long as I can remember. I got my first journal when I was 10 years old and I have one from every year of my life since.

My mom still buys me a journal every Christmas for the next year. It's a great tradition we have together and I look forward to getting one from her each year. I wanted to share with you today some benefits I've gotten from journaling.

1. Spiritual & Emotional Growth

Over the years I've been able to journal the my thoughts and emotions and been able to sort out those feelings through my journaling. I've journaled my relationship with Christ over the years. What the Lord has taught me, faith lessons, struggles with my faith and more. Looking back on it I've been able to see emotional & spiritual growth. It's amazing to look back and see how good the Lord has been to me and my family through the years.

2. Memory Keeping

So many memories of mine are tucked away in the pages of my journals. At any given moment I'm able to look back and account for what I was doing in 1998, 2007 or 2015. Several years are documented in detail and I love that it jogs my memory and allows me to look back on several phases of life.

3. Finding My Voice in Writing

Through all these years of writing my thoughts, feelings, re accounting events and timelines it's all helped me find my voice and writing style. Being able to communicate through written words is really important for me in how I also communicate when I speak. Sorting out my feelings first on paper has helped me become a better writer and communicator.

Bible Journaling My Favorite Verse

I asked for a journaling Bible for Christmas. My Grandmother gave it to me, and it was one gift I was really excited to get. This is a new hobby for me, I've been following the Illustrated Faith community for a while now and couldn't wait to try out this new way of worship and experiencing God's word.

I don't think there's any right or wrong way of doing this, but as someone who's new to this medium I didn't quite know where to start. So I started at my favorite verse ever in the Bible.

I read the scripture and just jotted down some words & themes that stuck out to me in the passage and wrote those down on the left column.

I used some glitter paint and painted the entire two pages. I used gold & black for the writing. And then used some glitter washi tape to decorate. I decided that the Bible journaling community needs more glitter in their pages.

Have you done any Bible journaling yet? If so, what are some of your faves tips & tricks? Share them with me in the comments below. I recently hosted a Bible journaling event last weekend, I can't wait to share some pictures and spreads with you this week. The Bible I'm using can be found here http://amzn.to/1Qu6X3b

DEL MAR BEACH

We spent President's Day weekend soaking up the sun + beach in California. Any day we get to spend at the beach is a good day. We have sweet friends from college that live in SoCal and it was a fun weekend to visit them.

The water was freezing, I only dipped my toes in for a little bit. The kids and Orion went in farther but they had so much fun!

Collecting shells with my girl on the beach. It's her favorite and I love seeing how excited to gets over finding each one. We take them home and store them in mason jars from each beach visit.

We had the best time with friends at the beach, can't wait to go back again when it's a bit warmer.

What about you, are you a beach person? My ideal vacation is anywhere there's sun, sand and the ocean.

All Natural Toothpaste

We've made so many changes in our home over the last year an a half to improve our overall health and adding essential oils into the mix have been apart of that. I love using essential oils to help keep our family healthy. After finding out the number of toxic ingredients in regular toothpaste I've recently started making my own toothpaste using my essential oils and naturally safe products.

Making your own is really simple and easy here's how you can make your own:

Mix your baking soda with a few tablespoons of water till it's the paste consistency you'd like. Then add in your peppermint oils (for taste) thieves oil (for germ fighting) and orange oil (for whitening) and mix them all together till blended.

Store in a glass container.

Simple and easy. We've been using it daily and I love the clean we get from using this toothpaste.

If you haven't already given this a try I invite you to try it, need help finding the right essential oils? Drop me an email (andreaworley@live.com) and I'll help you get started!
