EP 13: Fostering Community Over Competition with Candice Stenger

I’m excited to share with you guys my friend Candice! We met online through social media (don’t you just love when that works out?) and we’ve been able to connect and support one another in our endeavors. Candice and I chat about ‘Community Over Competition’ and why it matters to support one another.

I think you’re going to really enjoy our conversation! Read a little more more about Candice below.

Candice Stenger is a working momma, writer, speaker and founder of A Musing Momma in Phoenix, Arizona. Candice’s mission is to inspire mommas to embrace their worth, chase their passions and find their community. As a working woman, Candice thought that the corporate ladder was the only path to success until 2014, when she became a mother and realized there was more in life worth chasing after. It wasn’t until 2017 that Candice stepped into her greatness by getting back to her passion of writing and speaking. In 2017, A Musing Momma started out as a blog for mommas to go deeper in conversations around motherhood. Today, you can connect with the community by enjoying blog posts, listen and be a part of A Musing Momma The Podcast episodes, and meet and chat with other like-minded mommas in the closed Facebook group.

My Simple Everyday Makeup

Two weeks ago my family took a Spring break trip with our kiddos for just a few days. Since we were only going to be gone a few days I packed just the essentials. During our trip I realized that I had all my everyday makeup favorites that I use on a daily basis for a minimal easy makeup application.

Makeup and products that give me great coverage, allow my skin to breathe and most important to me are clean products and free of junk that could be harmful to my skin and body.

Today I’m sharing that with you, hopefully it’ll inspire you to clean up your makeup and show you that you don’t have to have a lot of products to achieve the look you want for a fresh face!

I start with my base of Beautycounter Tint Skin foundation in the shade Linen. This foundation uses safe ingredients and can be buildable for a fuller coverage look. I like that it looks really natural and not heavy.

Next Up is my Root Pretty setting silk- this stuff is a dream product! It takes away shine and leaves your face with that “air brushed” look. Use think link to get 10% off your first order at Root Pretty.

I love my Beautycounter Velvet Eyeshadow Palette in Classic, it has several neutral shades that blend perfectly. Perfect for travel because it has so many versatile shades that mix well together, it’s all you need.

For blush I love this Satin Powder Blush by Beautycounter in the shade Nectar.

Color Define Brow Pencil

Root Pretty Natural & Organic Mascara

Eco Tools are some of my very favorite brushes, my Husband bought me a kit a few Christmas’ ago a starter set and I’ve loved them. They are really great quality and super affordable too! You can find them just about anywhere but I’ve linked a started set here on Amazon.

When I found Beautycounter it was my solution for great skincare and makeup that was quality and ingredients I could trust! This is why I love this brand so much! Root Pretty is also a brand that I love and enjoy using. It’s locally owned and operated in Iowa (my home state!) and I love supporting them.

I love that these are just a few products that help me feel my best and put together in the mornings and it’s not a lot of fuss.

If you’re looking for some great products check out the items I mentioned, everything is linked in this post. To see the full range of Beautycounter products go here, and for Root Pretty go here. You’ll get 10% off at Root Pretty using my link.

Protecting Yourself and Your Children with Identron

This post is sponsored by Identron, all opinions are my own.

Last Summer my husband and I’s bank accounts were hacked, thankfully our bank caught it right away and we were able to get a handle on it very quickly before it got to out of hand. I love the internet and all things online, if you’ve spent any amount of time with me here you know that. I believe the internet can be used for good and I’ve seen that. Along with that I think we have to be smart in how we use the internet and practically protect ourselves and our children from fraud and identity theft.

One million kids last year were effected by identity theft! That is a crazy amount, I didn’t even realize it was that high. Just the other day I got something in the mail addressed to my nine year old from an online study program, it really made me think about the forms we fill out with our kids names, addresses and other info and how all that can become public information and be sold to third parties without you even knowing it.

This was something I’d never thought about. How about you? So, when Identron reached out to me and provided me with the education I was missing I was onboard to learn and share with all of you.

Identron offers comprehensive identity protect for you and your entire family! They monitor your child’s Social Security number and look for any suspicious activity. A few other services they provide:

  • Dark web monitoring

  • USA change of address updates

  • Sex offender registry

  • US Based ID recovery team

  • Bank account monitoring

  • Credit Bureau monitoring

Check out their comprehensive plans for children here and for adults here.

A tip that we use when filling out forms at various places is not to put their SSN on any paper work, when it’s not necessary. Of coarse some medical forms will ask for this but if we know they have already asked for this and we’ve put it down on originals we will not write it down again let’s say for a routine check up or sick visit.

A few ways we safe guard our kids while they are online and using devices, we limit screen time. We monitor it closely. They are not allowed to go into their rooms with their devices alone unmonitored. We also have Netflix and other streaming shows set to an age appropriate setting. They can not watch anything over a certain age limit. Visit Identron’s tip page for more tips on this subject.

I invite you to check out Identron, their site is full of useful information and protection plans for your family. Only us as parents are going to protect our children, I am reminded no one is going to do that job but me and I want to be informed and armed with the best tools.

Check out Identron’s comprehensive plans and help here.

EP 12: Why I Don't Believe in Balance

Today’s podcast episode we’re talking about BALANCE.

Or rather how I don’t believe in balance. Yup, I said it. I don’t believe in balance. There’s no way that I can devote the same amount of time each day to all the activities, work, kids activities, ALL THE THINGS- it just doesn’t work. So I let that go. I let myself off the hook that it all needed to equal out a long time ago.

So instead I made a list of my priorities, and everything in my life flows around that. I encourage you to listen to today’s episode and feel encouraged to let your traditional view of ‘balance’ go- and instead think of what’s important to you, and how your priorities fit into your life.

EP 11: Debt Free Living with Olivia Snyder

I’m excited to share with you guys Olivia Snyder, we’ve been online friends for sometime now and she’s one of the OG bloggers I’ve been following for a while now. I love the internet and how it brings people together with like minded missions and Olivia has inspired me and encouraged me. And in many ways I relate to her so well, and I’m pretty sure if I lived in Dallas we’d be real life friends too. A little bit more about her;

I’m Olivia.  I live in the Dallas, Texas area.  My husband and I have been married for 11 years.  He’s a math teacher and college basketball official. I’m a teacher turned stay at home mom to 3 kids (7 year old boy, 4 year old boy, and 16 month old girl).  I’ve been blogging at Joyfully Prudent for the past several years.  I also have 2 Etsy shops and a YouTube channel I started last year.  Jesus is my rock and is my counselor through my roles as a wife, mom, and business woman.  I love coffee (it’s an experience), graphic tees, a clean home, organizing, and watching women’s soccer.

I hope that you guys feel encouraged and inspired by Olivia and her husband’s debt free story. No matter where you are at I think there’s something to take away here and start your own journey. I can attest myself to the freedom this has also given our family.
