Resources to Help You Start a Conversation and Educate for Change

Every time a moment comes up to talk about something that matters take the moment and opportunity to speak up and speak truth to your kids, your communities, your neighbors, your co-works, your family and friends.

Repent.

Step in an listen to people that are different than you.

Listen to their experiences.

Learn.

Humble yourself.

I don’t have all the answers, and I know you don’t either. Let’s learn together. Let’s be better together. Let’s educate ourselves together.

This is what I know- we need to educate ourselves. We can not depend on everyone else to educate us. Or solve issues for us. We need to be the change. We need to step out, and not be silent.

With that said here’s some resources and things to help you on your journey that I have found helpful for myself and family.

For me, it’s important to have a collection of books, story books and history books that educate. I also want my kids to see themselves & kids like them on the pages, and a diverse group of children represented. Here’s a few I think are worth the purchase for this reason.

Books:

All Eyes on You box Set

Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History

Skin like Mine

Hair Like Mine

A Kids Book About Racism

Little Leaders: Exceptional Black Men in History

Ansley’s Big Bake Off

When God Made You

Martin Luther King Jr

Watch: Melody An American Girl Story - this movie gives you a look at racism and segregation from the narrative Melody an American girl story. This is a good way, that is age appropriate for your kids to begin to understand history and racism.

Recent Amazon Favorites

It’s been a while since I shared what I’ve found on Amazon that I love and is worth your time and money. I’ve been trying to curb my Amazon purchases because we have been packing and moving our entire house. I don’t need a bunch of things to move as well. So this is combination of things for the last three months. Let’s get to the list and what I’ve been loving!

travel oils case \\ mattress protector \\ stylus pen \\ memory foam mattress

Oils travel case - I need a case to travel with my essential oils, I don’t know why I haven’t purchased something like this till now. I usually just put them all in a zip lock bag, but this is a much better option than that. I was so surprised at the quality of this travel case, it holds 12 oil bottles. I plan on throwing this into my suitcase while we travel across country for this move.

Stylus pen - I bought this for my daughter to use for drawing on her Fire Tablet. I researched a lot of stylus pens before purchasing this one. I am pleased to say how well it works, my daughter has loved using it as well.

Memory foam mattress - We bought two of these for our kiddos, they needed new mattresses. We purchased these same mattress several years ago and were really please with them, we bought them again for our kids in the twin size. These had super fast shipping on these as well.

Mattress protector - Also in the spirit of mattresses we got ourselves this new mattress protector. I love that this one was waterproof, was deep fitting for our thick king size mattress. We’ve been using it for a few weeks now and it’s held up great, was easy to put on too, come off for easy washing if need be.

EP 55: Diversify Your Income and Get Out of Debt!

One of my most downloaded episodes of 2019 was EP. 11 Living Debt Free with Olivia Snyder, you guys loved this episode and I’ve heard from many of you since then that becoming debt free is either important to you or has been so key in your lives. One of the ways that we’ve been able to pay off debt personally for our family is to diversify our income and have several streams of income come in at once.

Today I’m sharing with you some of the key ways we do that in our family. Listen in;

EP 54: Expectations vs. Living Expectantly

Today’s episode is all about expectations. I’ve learned some hard lessons about the expectations of others. I had it backwards for a really long time.

I put a lot of hope and trust in others instead of my Creator.

God really began to work on my heart in this area, the area of expectations I had for others. I expected friends and relationships to fill a void only God could. Once I surrendered this everything changed. I hope you’ll listen to today’s episode with an honest heart and take it a little deeper and see where God would lead you after listening today.

Click below to listen to today’s episode:

He is the thing that sustains us.

He is how we live a life full of abundance.

What does it look like to live expectantly? Let’s read 2 Peter.

  • it means to lean into God.

  • to trust him.

  • to know that he has a plan for you and your life and he’ll bring it to fruition.

  • Phil. 4:19
