EP 36: Three Things that Are Helping Me Find Freedom in Mothering Right Now!

There are so many seasons of mothering- there’s the newborn stage, toddler hood, school age, there’s sleepless nights and tired days. There’s joy watching your kids grow from stage to stage. Navigating it all can be trial and error sometimes but I wouldn’t trade it. It’s one of my greatest joys. Today on the #flourishtogetherpodcast I’m sharing 3 things that are helping me find freedom in my mothering right now! I hope you’ll give it a listen, and even if you aren’t in the same stage I am right now you’ll find some encouragement for now or to tuck away for later.

The takeaways:

  1. Date your kids

I love taking my kids in special dates. It’s something we started a few years ago and it’s becoming something they look forward to.

  2. Putting my phone away

We chatted about this in EP 21- you can listen to it here.

  1. Reminding myself that the season I am in is mine alone, giving grace and understanding to others.

My season of mothering is going to look different than yours, it just is and that’s ok. Let’s not compare each other and our seasons, when there are so many different variables we don’t know about others’ lives. Rest in your own season that God has uniquely planted you in.

My Complete Skincare Routine

Skincare is something that I’ve really taken an interest in these last couple of years. You’ve heard me mention before that I have cleaned up my personal care and cosmetics. I look for clean ingredients, products that don’t have parabens, or other harmful ingredients. It can be hard to find, I had the hardest time for years figuring out the best routine and products that fit the lifestyle I was wanting to create.

A friend introduced me to Beautycounter, I didn’t jump on board right away but the more I researched this company and these products I was impressed. I slowly started ordering things and fell in love with their quality and transparency with their ingredients. You can read all about why I chose Beautycounter here, and my makeup routine here.

Full disclosure; I love these products so much that I became a consultant. All links to products are from my consultant website, if you choose to shop with me i will earn a commission off your purchase. If you’re interested in Beautycounter but don’t know where to start I’d love for you to contact me.

I use Beautycounter’s Nourishing line, I’ve found that this is what has worked for me the best. I use the cleanser and additionally I use the day cream + night cream from this line.

My facial roller I love using mostly during my day time routine for my facial oil but it’s also nice to use in gernal all over the face, a few other products I love using:

Charcoal Mask- I use this maybe once or twice a week. It’s great for detoxing the skin, and occasional breakout.

No. 1 Facial Oil- this brightening oil I love, and I use it twice per week. It’s really helped with my acne scarring and un-even skin tone.

Cleansing Balm - I use this to take off my makeup each night.

The Overnight Resurfacing Peel is a game changer! It’s the first product that made me fall in love with Beautycounter, and everyone needs this in their routine. I’m sure of it! It’s really helped with my acne scarring, melasma and skintone. It’s a non chemical peel, and safe for everyone to use. I also love using this facial toner after I wash my face at night.

Now that we’ve talked about the products here’s the complete breakdown of when and how I use them:

I love how Beautycounter has changed my skin for the better, it looks brighter than ever. And I get compliments on my skin all the time, which is just the icing on the cake.

EP 34: Building Community After Transition

Have you recently moved or found yourself in a time of transition and change?

How do we build community when we’re starting over?

In today’s episode of the Flourish Together Podcast we’re talking about the lessons I’ve learned and the practical tips that have helped me along the way.

Lessons I’ve learned:

  • Give yourself a lot of grace.

  • Have low expectations when you start meeting people and building new community.

Practical tips:

  • Live life open handed to God- pray and seek God. The community you find yourself in community with people that you didn’t expect.

  • Go First- take one vulnerable step toward community.

  • Find a church community.

Safer Nail Polish Options

As I’ve been cleaning up my personal care products and switching over to more non-toxic options, sometimes things are hard to find that are cleaner and safer. Nail polish for years was hard for me to find something that was safe, effective and looked nice.

I’m excited that there’s more options on the market today than there was just even a couple years ago. Today I’m excited to share with you a few favorites for some safer nail polish options.

I’ve included all the links below to a few great products and their EWG ratings. I hope you’ll find this info helpful and hopefully help you as you look for safer options too.

  1. Piggy Paint- EWG Rating 1 (love these for kids, they are odorless and dry really fast.)

  2. Tenoverten- EWG Rating 3

  3. Ella + Mila- EWG Rating 3 (I love all their colors and their polish remover too, it’s linked below.)
